Aurosus Contrabass flute
Contrabass flute
is a wind instrument that has one of the lowest ranges in the flute family, lower than the conventional bass flute. Usually in the key of C, but there are others. It has a much lower range than a regular bass flute, usually starting at C2 and ending around C6 or C7. This allows the Contrabass flute to play deep and thick bass, and can even produce powerful sound effects. Despite its very low register, the Contrabass flute's tone is beautiful and full, making it an indispensible addition to any brass band.
Unlike traditional flutes, the Contrabass flute is usually made of metal and is often bent into a "U" shape to make it easier to handle. The instrument usually has a long, curved tube so that the player can blow it into the mouth. Due to its enormous size, the Contrabass flute requires special stands to keep it balanced.
The sound of the Contrabass flute is deep and wide, sometimes described as "mystical" or "soulful". Due to its distinctive tone, it is often used in music for solos or to accentuate the bass. In modern music, this instrument is often used to create big and grandiose sound effects. The tube body is made of white copper, and the sound is transparent and full.
